Donating deer through Hunt To Feed costs nothing and consists of three simple steps…
Harvest and tag a Connecticut deer
Debone venison you wish to donate
Freeze meat for drop off at your nearest processing partner
Click for a list of participating butchers and meat processors.
One deer yields up to 160 meals for Connecticut’s hungry. Our processing partners clean, grind, and package venison for pick up by local Connecticut food banks, soup kitchens, and shelters in need of meat. Each organization serves donated venison as necessary to best satisfy their community.
Interested in participating further? Hunt To Feed is now accepting donations and monetary contributions to help pay for all meat processing costs.

Donating Hunted Game
Per Connecticut Statue 26, Chapter 490, Section 26-78a: Hunted game may be donated to, and possessed, prepared and distributed by, a charitable or non-profit organization which serves or distributes food without cost to poor or needy persons.

Tradition Since 1975
Deer hunting in Connecticut began in the fall of 1975. Between 1907 and 1974 only landowners could target deer in an effort to combat crop damage.

What is Hunt To Feed
Hunt To Feed aligns Connecticut's deer hunters with local butchers & meat processors where venison can be safely prepared as a donation for foodbanks, soup kitchens, and shelters. All deer donated through Hunt To Feed help feed Connecticut families who struggle with food insecurity and hunger.
How do I donate a deer?
Once your Connecticut deer is tagged and field dressed, you can drop it off at any of these participating Connecticut meat processors.
When can I donate deer?
We primarily accept deer during Connecticut's hunting season from September 15th until January 31st. If you have a crop damage permit and would like to donate deer outside of season, please arrange a drop off by contacting Wes at HuntToFeed@Gmail.com.
How many people can one deer feed?
One deer provides up to 160 venison-rich meals.
How Much Does It Cost To Particpate
There is no cost to a hunter for donating deer with Hunt To Feed. All fundraising, donations, and sponsorships pay for venison processing to ensure you pay nothing.
I can't donate deer, can I still participate?
Yes, we are currently accepting monetary donations and sponsors for the 2023 hunting season. Thank you for your consideration!
